Marteshia Jennings

Resident in Counseling

Life can feel overwhelming when you're carrying responsibilities for everyone around you while trying to care for yourself at the same time.

Whether you're navigating relationship challenges, family conflict, caregiving responsibilities, anxiety, depression, or simply trying to understand patterns that have followed you throughout your life, therapy can offer a space to slow down, reflect, and move forward with greater clarity and intention.

My approach is warm, attentive, and grounded in genuine connection. I believe some of the most meaningful work happens when people feel truly heard and understood, so I tend to spend time listening, asking thoughtful questions, and helping clients reach a deeper understanding of their experiences before focusing on what comes next. Rather than rushing toward solutions, I want to help you make sense of where you've been, how it has shaped you, and what meaningful change might look like moving forward.

I particularly enjoy working with women, older adults, caregivers, and individuals navigating relationship challenges, family conflict, and major life transitions. I have experience supporting families affected by Alzheimer's disease and dementia and understand the unique emotional demands that caregiving responsibilities, changing family roles, and long-term stress can create.

I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) while maintaining a strong interest in family-of-origin patterns, core beliefs, self-worth, and the ways earlier experiences continue to shape present relationships, communication styles, and emotional wellbeing.

Clients often describe me as calm, authentic, supportive, and easy to talk to. My hope is that therapy feels like a space where you can show up honestly, explore difficult experiences without judgment, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and the people who matter most.
