Telehealth therapy is counseling provided through secure video sessions, allowing you to meet with your therapist from your home or another private location. It offers the same level of professional care as in-person therapy, with added flexibility and accessibility.
We work with adults, couples, and families who want support navigating emotional, relational, or life challenges. Therapy can be helpful whether you are working through anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, or major transitions, or simply want a steady space for reflection and growth.
At this time, our therapists can only provide counseling to clients who are physically located in states where they are licensed. Currently, that includes Virginia and North Carolina. You must be located in one of these states at the time of your session.
Most therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Some services, such as couples or family therapy, may be scheduled for longer sessions depending on need. Your therapist will discuss session length with you before you begin.
We offer both insurance-based and self-pay therapy services. Insurance acceptance varies by clinician based on licensure and credentialing status. Some clinicians are in-network with major insurance plans such as Anthem BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare.
Availability varies by provider, and being in-network does not always mean a therapist is currently accepting new clients. We encourage reviewing individual clinician profiles or reaching out with questions.
Self-pay rates vary by clinician and typically range from $85 to $175 per 50-minute individual session. Rates for couples or family therapy may differ. All fees are discussed clearly before you begin so there are no surprises.
For some clients, self-pay offers added flexibility and privacy. When using self-pay, therapy sessions are not shared with insurance companies, which means diagnoses and session details do not become part of an insurance record.
Self-pay can also allow for greater flexibility in session frequency, focus, and length, depending on the service and clinician. Many clients choose self-pay because it aligns better with their preferences, goals, or values around confidentiality and care.
Your therapist can help you think through whether insurance or self-pay feels like the best fit for you.
Yes. Sliding scale spots may be available depending on financial need and therapist availability. In addition, therapists-in-training at Kaizen may offer reduced self-pay rates while working under appropriate clinical supervision.
Some providers at Kaizen may use HIPAA-compliant AI tools as part of their clinical workflow. These tools can support accurate documentation, continuity of care, and access to evidence-based resources, similar to how therapists consult professional texts or clinical references.
AI tools are used thoughtfully and never replace the therapeutic relationship.
Yes. Clients are always informed and given a choice. You will be provided with a release form where you can indicate whether or not you consent to the use of HIPAA-compliant AI tools in your care.
No. Kaizen therapists do not enter client information into OpenAI or any public or consumer AI platforms. We only use HIPAA-compliant systems that are designed specifically for healthcare and integrated with our electronic health record.
That’s completely normal. Starting therapy often brings up uncertainty. If you don’t see your question answered here, you’re welcome to reach out through our contact form or schedule a free consultation to ask questions and explore whether working with Kaizen feels like the right fit.
