Couples Therapy, Wherever You Are in Virginia or North Carolina

Virtual sessions built for real relationships, married or not, two people or more.

Couples therapy at Kaizen Counseling and Consultation is a space to slow down with your partner (or partners) and get honest about what's actually happening between you, then build tools that hold up once the session ends. Every session happens by secure telehealth, so you can do this work from home, wherever you are in Virginia or North Carolina.

We work with married couples, unmarried partners, and people in polyamorous or otherwise non-traditional relationships. If you're ready to look honestly at your relationship, we're ready to meet you there.

Are You and Your Partner Feeling Stuck?

Maybe the same argument keeps resurfacing. Maybe you've stopped bringing certain things up because it doesn't feel worth the conflict. Maybe you care about each other and still feel more like roommates than partners.

These are some of the most common reasons couples reach out for support, not signs that a relationship is failing, but signs that it's ready for some intentional attention.

Care That Fits Around Your Actual Life

Because every session is virtual, couples therapy at Kaizen doesn't require a shared commute or a waiting room, only a private video session with a therapist trained to work with real relationship complexity. We currently work with couples across Virginia and North Carolina, including partners based near Lynchburg, VA and Wilmington, NC, and everywhere in between.

Sessions are billed through insurance where accepted or as private pay, with details varying by clinician.

A Team Trained Together, Practicing With the Same Values

Kaizen was founded by Justin Dixon, LPC (VA) / LCMHC (NC), after seven years working in adult and child/adolescent psychiatry, where he trained close to 20 clinical interns each semester. The clinicians who deliver couples therapy today, including Maddie Meadows and Torie Pendleton, trained under Justin before joining him in private practice, so the whole team shares the same relationship-oriented, psychologically-informed approach: real therapeutic alliance, evidence-based tools, and a 'small steps' pace rather than an overnight overhaul.

Our team is explicitly affirming of all sexual orientations, relationship structures, and backgrounds. Couples therapy at Kaizen is for every kind of partnership.

It depends on your clinician and plan. Our therapists are in-network with several major insurers, and private-pay sessions are also available. You can see which insurance each clinician accepts on our Our Team page.
Your first session is a chance for your therapist to understand your relationship's history, what's brought you in now, and what you're each hoping will change. From there, your therapist will help you build a plan that fits your specific relationship, not a one-size-fits-all script.
